City by the water, famous for its canals and bikes. I’m talking about Amsterdam. Whether you’re into museums, shopping or just food, the capital city of the Netherlands has something in store for all of us. Where to start? Planning a trip to Amsterdam might be a bit daunting. So many canals and little streets. They all look alike and it’s easy to get lost. I would suggest starting somewhere in the middle of all famous spots. When going to Amsterdam, I always start my trip at the Dam. It’s a big square, easy to recognize and located in the heart of the city. What to do? Museums Rijksmuseum: offers a collection of Dutch art Van Gogh museum: dedicated to the work of Van Gogh Anne Frank House: the former hiding place of Anne Frank and her family during World War II. Flying is something exciting and mysterious at the same time. Thousands of flights all over the world and for some reason, the plane is able to stay in the air (well, most of the time). Have you heard some scary or ridiculous stories about planes before? I think we all have. Seat belts fastened because these 5 myths are NOT true. 1. Turbulence is dangerous Turbulence is not dangerous, even though I hate it just as much as you do. It’s not a safety issue and the plane is not going to crash. It just feels annoying, horrible, drives some people crazy and sometimes even makes you sick. We’ve all been there. Truth is, you don’t know whether you’ll be experiencing a turbulent flight or not – neither does the pilot or the crew. Pilots will always do their best to avoid turbulence because – like I said – it’s…

It’s winter and it’s cold – so here’s a guide to escape winter. I’m not a fan of cold at all and I would rather leave this place as soon as possible. Here are five reasons why you should visit the biggest island of the Canary Islands, Tenerife (like right now!) 1. Nice weather all year round Yes! Yes! Yes! This is number one reason to visit, isn’t it? With an average temperature of 22° all year round, this might be the perfect winter escape. During summer, it usually doesn’t get warmer than 28°C and during winter, it doesn’t get colder than 14°C (the average temperature is 20°C though). 2. It’s not far away The Canary Islands are about 4,5 hours away from Brussels so you won’t have to sit on a plane for over 10 hours. 3. It’s not too expensive It’s not cheap because it’s touristic but…

Social media is taking over our lives. Run, it’s not too late (yet)! I’ll admit it, I’m just as bad as you. I’m constantly checking on messages and notifications. It’s an addiction. I used to be a huge Facebook addict but right now I’m an Instagram addict. By the way, if you haven’t seen my Instagram yet, click here (not self promotional or anything). No wait, what are you doing?! This article is about changing your habits… Don’t click that link! Let me guess… too late? Life’s passing by and we don’t even see it because we’re too busy staring at a screen Our social life is dead. It’s all in our phone. It’s called technology – but you know what?! It’s pathetic. Look around you. Everyone (but literally everyone) is staring at their phone. I mean… What the hell is happening?! It’s a competition to be the best. Nothing…

Positive thinking is about more than feeling happy. It’s about more than being happy. It’s about your way of thinking, your way of living. It’s something you’ll have to learn, especially if you tend to stick to negative thoughts. You’ll have to go through a process of getting to know yourself in order to fix your problems. Don’t get rid of negative thoughts. Learn to embrace them How do you get rid of negative thoughts? It seems impossible and you’re absolutely right about that. Don’t push them away – they will come back twice as bad. Instead, try to find some kind of connection. Learn to embrace it. How can I turn those negative thoughts into something positive? For each negative thing, try to find something positive. For example: it’s getting winter and the days are getting darker and colder. The winter blues is coming closer. The negative thought in…

Jamming in the car… you have done this at least once in your life (or at least once a week in my case). You haven’t?! What’s wrong with you?! Kidding. A long road trip isn’t exactly something to look forward to. Spending hours in a car and nothing but the same boring road in front of you. Ugh, what a terrible thing to do. Well, it doesn’t have to be boring. Wide open road, sunglasses on, enjoy the ride, turn the volume up and go crazy. Here’s a list of songs for an American inspired road trip (or just anywhere in the world). Some of them are almost as old as the road itself but you’ll enjoy every single one of them. Trust me. Fast Car – Tracy Chapman Summer of 69 – Bryan Adams Anywhere – Passenger Pocket full of sunshine – Natasha Bedingfield Unwritten – Natasha Bedingfield Shut…

The Castle of the Counts, or in Dutch het gravensteen, is one of the few castles in Flanders that remained intact during the centuries. It’s located in the city of Ghent. It was built by Philip of Alsace, in the early Middle Ages. He’s famous for his statement “I’ll show them who’s boss” and that’s exactly what he did when he built this castle. During the Middle Ages, it was the residence of the Counts of Flanders. During the years, the castle has been famous for different purposes such as a store and cotton plant and even a prison. The houses around the castle were houses for the textile workers. Those houses disappeared and the castle is now standing proud in the middle of the city. Let me take you on a medieval tour 1. The gateway Above the gateway is a Latin inscription: “anno incarnationis MCLXXX Philippus Comes Flandrie et…

You start analyzing every little detail, you try to change a situation, you start having destructive thoughts about the world, about other people and more importantly: about yourself. Do you recognize any of this? Better yet, do you recognize all of it? Good, it means you’re just as “bad” as me. When I say bad, I don’t mean bad bad as in being a bad person. I’m just saying it’s about bad habits and it’s infecting our lives and our health. There’s an endless list of “bad” things for us and overthinking is one of them. “It’s all my fault” – No, it’s not The worst example: blaming yourself. “It’s all my fault”, “I should have done this differently”, “I could have changed it”. No, you need to stop doing this. I’m only saying this because I’m exactly the same. You can blame yourself a thousand times until…
