It’s winter and it’s cold – so here’s a guide to escape winter. I’m not a fan of cold at all and I would rather leave this place as soon as possible. Here are five reasons why you should visit the biggest island of the Canary Islands, Tenerife (like right now!)
1. Nice weather all year round
Yes! Yes! Yes! This is number one reason to visit, isn’t it? With an average temperature of 22° all year round, this might be the perfect winter escape. During summer, it usually doesn’t get warmer than 28°C and during winter, it doesn’t get colder than 14°C (the average temperature is 20°C though).
2. It’s not far away
The Canary Islands are about 4,5 hours away from Brussels so you won’t have to sit on a plane for over 10 hours.
3. It’s not too expensive
It’s not cheap because it’s touristic but it’s definitely not expensive either. Many restaurants offer full menus and the average price is about 12 euros. Soda is more expensive here so it might be an idea to order a bottle of water when you decide to go out for dinner.
4. European vibes all over the island
The food is European, it looks European and you can pay in Euros. How convenient is that?! People speak Spanish but don’t worry – most of the tourists are British and German so almost everyone speaks English as well. Excursions are a little more expensive but that’s the same as in other touristic areas.
5. The landscapes are really diverse
From beaches and palm trees to a volcano and a hiking path through the jungle. Tenerife has a lot to offer. The touristic areas are Playa de las Americas, Los Christianos, Costa Adeje, Puerto de la Cruz and the capital Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
Have you been to Tenerife or would you like to leave right now?
